The “Pocket Line” series of trains is intended as a gateway for beginning modelers who are looking for a way to enter the hobby that’s fun and affordable, but not limited in expansion possibilities.  Many experienced modelers and collectors also purchase "Pocket Line" models because they are fun, affordable and also somewhat rare.  It can be many years between production runs.  Pocket Trains are the perfect models to run on the KATO Compact Track Series Sets.  Using these offerings together modelers can build excellent "Micro-Layouts".  These items also make excellent portable layouts when traveling for business or pleasure.   Very interesting track plans can be set up in less than 5 minutes!

VERY IMPORTANT: This unit is NOT a low-cost substitute for a traditional electric transformer.  It was specifically designed for use with the KATO Pocket Line Trains running on the KATO Compact Track Sets and it works very well for that purpose.  It may work for similar models that have efficient motors and do not require much current that are running on very small layouts.  It will not work on medium or large layouts because there will be too much of voltage drop.  Again, it was specifically designed for use with the KATO Pocket Line Trains running on the KATO Compact Track Sets.  If you want to purchase it for other uses you do so at your own risk as there are no returns on electrical items.

VERY IMPORTANT: The 6" radius curves contained in this set will NOT handle standard length locomotives such as North American "GP" and "SD" series locomotives.  This track set is specifically designed for short wheelbase locomotives such as the KATO Pocket Line series shown above.  It will also handle some interurban/trolleys/light rail trams as well as small switching locomotive such as 0-4-0's and 0-6-0's.  The largest locomotives that will run on this set are North American B-B style switchers such as the KATO NW2 and similar models.  NO RETURNS CAN BE ACCEPTED ON TRACK ITEMS.  Please be sure you have the appropriate equipment to run on this set before ordering.

Japanese Models

KATO produces a wealth of Japanese prototype models including many of the high speed "bullet trains" (Shinkansens) that are extremely popular with our customers.  The range is so large that it is not possible for KATO to produce all of the models at once.   They are produced a few at a time in what is known as "batch production runs".  Most of the models are produced for KATO's home market of Japan but from time to time we are lucky enough to see few models in the USA.  What you see below are most of the models that are available at this time.  These are in stock only in very limited quantities so if you see something of interest please do not hesitate to place your order.  Sorry, we usually do not have delivery dates of when others are becoming available although when we do we post this information on our KATO new announcements page.
